A flâneur is a leisurely wanderer, a worldly explorer, a connoisseur of life. Hailing from 19th-century France, the word captures the idea that curiosity can uncover a life of significance. The team that makes these beautiful wines consider themselves to be flâneurs at core - passionate artisans joined together by the desire to slow down, observe the world, and create delicious wine.
Situated on a 44 acre estate of organic, dry-farm vineyards across the Willamette Valley in Oregon, the winery creates distinct pinot noir and chardonnay that demonstrates strong attention to detail. The winemaker, having previously worked at Willamette Valley standouts like Beaux Frere Vineyard, applies a "high touch, low intervention" philosophy to the wines.
The 2016 Flânerie is bold, brooding and richly textured, yet balanced and poised. This complex expression of pinot noir shows off the terroir of its origin in spades: minerality, dark fruits, spice and structure. This wine is best to enjoy with gamey meats, especially lamb. Only 487 cases were produced and the wine has been ranked as “Outstanding” by Vinous, with 94 pts.
