Wealthsimple / Giftagram

A branded merch store built for a design-first fintech - built, stocked and run end to end.

The Project

Wealthsimple came to us with a clear standard: the Shop had to meet the same bar as everything else they make.

This ruled out the usual approach. Three things had to be true.

It had to look like theirs. Not a marketplace template with a logo applied; a store that sat comfortably beside everything else Wealthsimple makes.

It had to work in both languages. Natively, in English and French, for customers in Quebec and across the country. Not a translation layer bolted on afterwards.

It had to keep running after launch. A storefront is the part people see. Behind it sits packing, shipping, returns, support, and someone watching the stock; work that doesn't end on launch day.

So we built it from scratch.

The Wealthsimple Shop runs on a fully custom Shopify theme, coded from the ground up rather than adapted from a template. That gave us control over every part of the experience: product pages, cart behaviour, navigation, and the typographic detail that separates a brand store from a generic one. It sits alongside Wealthsimple's other digital properties without looking like a guest.

We sourced and supplied the merchandise to the same standard. A storefront can be flawless and still fail the brand if what comes out of the box feels like conference swag.

The French storefront was built the same way, from the theme layer up: separate localized paths, translated product content, translated page URLs, and locale-aware logic throughout. Product names, option labels, URL structures; store logic that quietly assumes English fails invisibly the moment a customer switches. Getting that right is the difference between a French store and a French-flavoured one.

The Shop launched May, 2026.

Every order ships from a Canadian warehouse; no cross border duties, no customs surprises, delivery timelines that match what Canadian shoppers expect. Behind that sits a layer of automation that keeps Wealthsimple informed without asking anyone to log into a dashboard: new orders, low-stock alerts, daily inventory summaries, return requests. Their team gets visibility. Ours gets a head start on problems before they become problems. Someone has to pack the boxes, answer the emails, and tell you when you're about to run out of the crewneck.

Months on, that's the part of the engagement still running.
